Job Summary
The Director of Patient Care has organizational accountability and provides organizational leadership for all clinical areas, clinical support services and the facility’s Risk, Quality and Infection Control Program.
This position provides organizational leadership utilizing the framework of the operational plan, financial objectives and performance improvement goals within the defined community.
This position partners with other members of the Leadership Team, along with Avera St.
Mary’s and Avera McKennan resources, Board of Directors and community partners.
Education and/or Experience
Graduate from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred.
Graduate from an accredited nursing program is acceptable.
Bachelor’s degree required at time of hire or able to obtain within 5 years from date of hire.
Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of two years Director of Nursing experience or in a nursing management position within a health care setting.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meeting the requirements of the multi-state licensure.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within the first twelve months of hire.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday: 7:00 am - 4:00pm; 80 hours every 2 weeks
Occasional weekend/holiday/call time
